After getting the cold shoulder from people. I decided that to create my own bait. Through the years, I have collected a few very useful information concerning homemade fishing baits. After a while of testing various baits, I found the perfect combo. Now, I was that person pulling in the fish everywhere I went. I soon realized why everyone was so secretive when it came to their baits. I mean, its hard work, and time behind the perfect bait.
When people started asking me what I was fishing with, I was tempted to do the same thing that was done to me. And ya know what; I did for a while. It was until the one day this guy came to me while I was reeling ‘em like crazy. He had just spent 10 dollars on some catfish bait, and wasn’t catching one thing. He asked me what I was fishing with. I felt bad for him; he reminded me of me. So, I told him that I make my own bait. He was intrigued, but he never asked me for my recipe. All he did was offer me two dollars for a bag of my bait. Then I realized that I could sell my bait. And that how it started, I began selling my bait to fishermen on the banks.

Below I will give you a broad list of ingredients to make your own baits. I want to encourage you to play around with different combinations until you find one you like.

1) Uncooked oatmeal popular as a base (keeps all the ingredients together in a doughy mixture)
2) All purpose flour another popular base
3) Corn and wheat flakes or similar types of cereals base to keep bait on hook
4) Water required in most cases to help make the mixture workable
5) Garlic salt (probably a good idea if you used it also)
6) Garlic powder similar to salt
7) Can of tuna
8) Anise oil (I’ve also tried the powdered version both work)
9) meats (raw livers, brains, fish parts) the more blood, the better
10) canned or packaged meats such as cat food, dog food, spam, sandwich meats, hot dogs as an alternative to the raw meats
11) cheeses smellier the better
12) fish food pellets, cattle feed pellets, or corn.
13) molasses
14) yeast for fermenting
